Municipality of Schnepfau achieves energy savings of almost 80%
As the first municipality in Austria, the Schnepfau municipality in the Bregenzer forest is changing its conventional street lighting (mercury vapour lamps) to the newest LED technology as well as solar lighting and is achieving enormous energy savings in doing so.
The decision to replace the entire lighting by LED heads resulted from the fact that the street lighting has not been in line with the current state-of-the-art-technology for a long time and this means costly maintenance work.
The company EPS soltec Solartechnik GmbH was selected for the consultancy and project implementation. A total of 62 light heads are being replaced by LED heads from HELLA and other conventional street lamps are being replaced by 3 solar lamps installed in the Schnepfegg district.
Another convincing criteria for the use of the HELLA light heads is the spare parts guarantee of at least 20 years after the end of the series production.
The Schnepfau municipality is not only the first municipality in Austria to make this exemplary step into an energy-efficient future but also the first common reference municipality of EPS soltec and HELLA.
The conversion to LED and solar will be complete in September 2011.
Personalised financing
Alongside the project realisation, EPS soltec Solartechnik GmbH also offers personalised financing.
The concept takes in account the ongoing electricity savings as the optional government assistance. In combination with the EPS soltec carefree package which is including all maintenance costs during 10 years, the municipalities will welcome this support.
